At CENTS, Ian will reveal how retailers can generate higher margins and increase the average sale via one-stop shopping experiences to help customers succeed and return time after time. Ian holds a Master’s in Business Management and a Bachelor’s in Horticulture and has served as Professor of Business Management in the U.K.

 

shilan Jody Shilan is a PLANET Trailblazer, Green Industry “Rock Star,” landscape contractor, columnist and editor, educator, speaker, Executive Director – New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association, creator of FromDesign2Build.com and radio host of Landscape Live. He’s an out-of-the-box thinker, who sees solutions rather than problems and is gifted at making people laugh. At CENTS he’ll reveal the 5 D’s of successful design/build sales, release you from site analysis paralysis and share his tricks for designing faster. Jody’s industry education includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Landscape Architecture.

 

urban James Urban is renowned for his knowledge of urban arboriculture and soils, specification, preservation and installation of trees, specialized planting soils, urban landscape plantings, and rain water management. At CENTS, James will dig into the interrelationship of trees, soils and specifications to make the case for a shift in the properties, paradigms and processes to generate thriving trees. James is an ISA, FASLA, who has received the ASLA Medal of Excellence and the ISA Award of Achievement for his substantive contributions to the professions of Landscape Architecture and Arboriculture.

 

lobello Tony LoBello is Design Director for Mariani Landscape, where he leads a team of professionals who sell, design, plan, install and maintain exquisite, award-winning residential, commercial and municipal landscape projects across Greater Chicago. At CENTS, Tony will outline the Mariani philosophy and best practices they use to achieve A+ client and associate satisfaction scores and he’ll review emerging trends in the green industry. Tony has a Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture, an Associate’s in Horticulture and has instructed for Morton Arboretum, Chicago Botanic Garden, College of DuPage and the ILCA Institute.

 

macdonagh Peter MacDonagh is an international leader in ecological restoration, urban forestry, stormwater control and green roof technology. As Director of Design + Science, Kestrel Design Group, Peter speaks globally and has an RLA in 7 states and 1 Canadian Province. On behalf of Ohio APLD, ONLA invited Peter to teach an Ecological Design Workshop (January 6th). At CENTS, he’ll demonstrate how diversity impacts pest/disease outbreaks and water quality and he’ll share innovations and case-studies of stormwater calculators and incentives. Peter has a degree in Amenity Horticulture; a Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture and is an FASLA, PLA, LEED AP, and RHS.

 

schmalenberger Tim Schmalenberger is Senior Managing Principal of the design firm MKSK (formerly MSI), a landscape-architect-led, multi-disciplinary firm with four offices and 70+ professional staff. Tim’s 950 public realm projects, 112 awards and leadership in Ohio’s CLARB and Board of Landscape Architects express his passion for the process of bringing design ideas to build reality. At CENTS, he will share “War and Wow Stories” and explore what makes them different. Tim holds a Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture, received Business First’s 40 under 40 Award and is a Fellow ASLA.

 

gibson Kirk Gibson is an accomplished trainer, coach and entrepreneur whose roles include: Sales Skills Manager for Bobcat and Doosan and Owner of Gibson Consulting Group, where he coaches individual, executive and athletic performance.
